The most sustainable way to Travel , Working Holiday Visa New Zealand
Have you ever wanted to spend a year abroad ? Visiting another country in the world will expand your consciousness and open your awareness for how we relate to other humans on the planet. Traveling outside your home country could seem quite frighting. But rest assured, the world really isn't as dangerous as what the telivision makes it out to be. Once you get your taste of foreign travel, your heart will desire more.
I had been a few places before my trip to New Zealand, but it always cost a ton of money, unless you can stay with family, or friends, the large cost of travels is waged in air fair and accomodation. Let alone food cost's when you eat out.
I believe money is the key factor why so many don't decide to travel. Fear not, any longer sustainable scott is here with the most sustainable way to travel.

This web site finds cheap deals, but also allows you to stay overnight in multiple countries in route to final destination. Using this web page I was able to fly from New Zealand to Australia than 27 hours in Singapore, to 29 hours in Cologne Germany, to Copenhagen Denmark. It was exhausting no doubt about that, but for the cost of one flight ticket I saw 3 countries , its totally sustainable.
Accommodation
Hostels - http://www.hostelworld.com
This was the hostel I stayed at in christchurch, its off New Brighton beach and is really the best hostel in Location and Price, simply because of the access to the Public Libary and grocry store, as well as the beach views . point break backpackers The Views were amazing.
25 $ A Night or weekly rate of 18 a day I believe. You have to ask them what their weekly rate is. It could add up very quickly if you stay long term.
Hostels are fun, you can meet tons of like minded people from around the world! But they can be expensive.
There is an app called campermate for the Phone. It shows all the camp sites around new zealand,
Doc campsites are ran by Department of Conservation, and most are usually 6 $ a night to 12 $ night depending on location. There are many free campsites in major citys around New zealand.
In Christ church 15 min south there are several free campsites. Staying at the free campsites is the most sustainable way to travel. Cook your own food, and stay at free campsites, you can literally travel to New Zealand for a quarter of the price compared to staying in Hostels.

Transportation
Transportation is a huge cost when thinking about how you want to travel. Bus tickets can add up unless you buy a bus pass, on facebook backpacker groups, you can find second hand bus tickets at better prices.
If your staying for less than 1 month, the best bet would be to rent a car, Jucy rentals are about 25 a day, they come with a small fridge and sink and the back seats fold up into a very comfortable bed. Jucys are luxury. They are fun to travel in, and when you pass another at on the road or wake up at a camp site and see dozens of them, it feels cool to be apart of the club.
If your coming to to new zealand for longer than a month, by far the most sustainable way to travel is by campervan. Camper van isnt what we think exactly , its usually consists of a car, van, stationwagen, or suv, with the back seats removed and a bed, and kitchen built into it. There are campervan lots in christchurch and auckland, where you could purchase, but the prices would be inflated. The best way to buy one is to buy one from another back packer on facebook, or find a car on the side of the road for sale and convert it yourself. My first van was a 1997 Honda oddesy I bought for 2,100NZD. 1525$ USD This van ran me good for 20,000 km, around the entire south island, towing a trailer green house. Never would i have imagined a van lasting so long. I sold it for 1000 off the price of my next van.
Buying a camper van, gives you accomadation, kitchen, and transportation in one cost. And you can sell it when you leave. The only catch is paying for repairs, its why Jucy is the eaiser way to go. But if you know cars, you can find a decent one for 2000 and it will get you through your travels.
With markets like this in every major town, you can imigine if you cook yourselve, how cheap your food costs could be.
Oats with fruit are by far the most sustainable breakfast you can eat every day on your travels, if you want to see the world, and do it on a budget , it can be done, just got to re think travel, live in a car, and cook your own food. Its the most sustainable way to travel.
All the campsites have clean water, but if your keen that glacier water is mighty tasty!!
