ALEX Knob Track!! 17.2 km

So I had a post about the house I wanted to fix up. Well I got approved so I called Anton and he drove 5 hours to pick me up in my car...   First we decided to do a hike. We went with the Alex Knob it was a 8 hour hike. 4 up and 4 down.

The views were spectacular to say the least.

It's easy to find your way when you always know where north is.

This is Franz Joseph Glacier at least the front of it anyway. It's amazing this glacier used to be all the way in the valley 100 years ago. But over time its retreated backwards. Because the earth has been warming and all.

It's always good to bring a snack... I love that rabbit food!!!

And when you see it you know you got to take a selfie!!! It's the American way!!
It was cool. This entire trek was through the rain forest. With green moss everywhere and the purest oxygenated air one could imagine.
Through out the trail there were small openings in the trees that showed the views like this. This was the highest elevation I've ever walked.
It's never to late to stop and take a picture of those wild flowers.
Why do flowers exist?  It's gods way of showing us there is beauty in all things. Even a pest like a weed will turn into a flower.

When we made it to the top I was so excited to take a picture. It's too bad we were above the clouds and you couldn't see Franz Joseph Glacier behind.
I read in a book about foods for pregnancy how important lemons were for energy. And how in the old days when people went for long journeys the lemon would provide energy for hours.  I have to say I agree.
Of course you can't forget about those fresh greens. Easy to carry and packed with all the essential vitamins and minerals.
Of course I could have baked my own oat bars and its not sustainable to buy corporation food. But mother earth brand oat bars are as good as they come. And this company supports environmentally friends ideas and packaging.

It was a long four hours but it was well worth it.

Especially when you get to see views like this one.

The way down we had to stop to see if Anton could see the waterfalls. Lol

For dinner we finished off with a pumpkin, potato and bean soup. With that french baguette of course!!
I always here people in the US complaining about not having enough energy. I've been eating a vegetarian diet for 3 weeks with Meat once a week of course!! But I have never felt so much energy before in my life. It seems like something to be said. And its possible to live like this on dollars a day.  It's has to be the most sustainable way of living. Even in the book of Daniel it talks about how he changed the diet of his men and they all became more healthy. It's amazing how many Christians I know in Texas who claim to know the word but forget about the most Important parts. I'm not saying don't ever eat meat. I'm just saying eat way more veggies and eat meat like once a week. Try it for yourself and you will love who you become!!!
That 17.2 Km . Completing it made me feel more alive then I have ever been.   I can't wait to see where the next trek leads!!
